Great software for 1st or 2nd grade crowd. A++ December 18, 2008 R. Thomson (Colorado) We thought this game was great. Worked really well for our 6 year old with a little coaching, 8 year old can do it on her own. Great game to keep a child engaged and learn a little on the side. You learn geography type information, which I think is great at this age.
mom for educational fun September 15, 2008 W. Hawkins (Metairie, LA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My kids (7 and 8) have recently been introduced to Carmen Sandiego and they instantly fell in love with the cartoon, so I bought the junior detective game. They love it just as much as the cartoon. It seems quite easy to me but they still love it. It definitely exposes them to geographical facts. They might not remember which country grew grapes or weaved baskets but may open their minds to other countries and cultures. I would recommend this product but don't expect a big challenge with this game. You can expect a lot of fun and geographical tidbits.
Good, Educational Children's Game May 16, 2006 Melodramatic Library Geek (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I know, being a Carmen Sandiego fan, I have beaten all the other Carmen games and still sought to find the Junior Detective. Well, my actions can mean a few things, such as that I'm a die-hard Carmen-game freak, and that Carmen games are really, really good and fun to play. These are both correct, the reason being that even the most junior of Carmen games, with it's super-spy theme, is more fun than regular kid-friendly games geared toward older gamers. True, Carmen Sandiego Junior Detective is for younger gamers, but also true is the fact that it's not one bit less fun because of that reason alone. In a much miniature version of Carmen Sandiego World Detective, Carmen has again stolen a bunch of the world's monuments and it's up to the "junior detective" to travel to different countries, run their magnifying glass over mysterious objects where the crook is rumored to have passed by, and gather clues and evidence, thus nabbing their crook. The best part of the whole game is you still "travel" to some unique and different countries such as Peru and Saudi Arabia, and you also learn tons of helpful geography facts and hear the native music of the country you're in when you "travel" there. Not to mention that a kids game like this one with the words EDUCATIONAL pasted up and down the box is actually fun; there's the real benefit. Overall, Carmen Sandiego Junior Detective is fun, enjoyable, cute, and educational; here's a game you can't go wrong with!
